Pistons' Holiday Cheer Bagley and Burks Spread Christmas Cheer by Paying Off Loans

On Christmas Eve, Marvin Bagley III and Alec Burks of the Detroit Pistons paid off loans totaling $80,000 for 18 families. The pair of players partnered with Michigan First Credit Union to surprise these families.

While the Detroit Pistons haven't been winning on the court lately, Marvin Bagley III and Alec Burks have been winning big off the court. They surprised 18 families by paying off loans totaling up to $80,000 in partnership with Michigan First Credit Union!

Bagley personally shared this heartwarming moment with the families: "I want to thank Michigan First Credit Union," he said. On behalf of myself and my teammate Alec Burks, I have a special surprise for you," he said. We will be paying off all of your loans and I just wanted to say that it was a special time for me to meet you and I had the opportunity to do so. Merry Christmas!"

Despite some internet hooligans trying to ruin the festive mood, the gesture resonated with many, sparking positive reactions such as "Bagley and Burr's classic move".

"Classic move by Bagley and Burks! That's what it's all about. Merry Christmas to these families!"
"Much respect for these guys!" I'm proud to be a Pistons fan."
"We need more news like this. Thank you for making these families smile!"
Pistons seek to turn things around in the new year

Meanwhile, on the court, the Pistons face a different reality. Their last win came back on Oct. 28 against the Chicago Bulls.

Head coach Monty Williams acknowledged their struggles: "Life can be funny. Just three years ago, I was coaching in the Finals. The game of basketball changes rapidly. I thought about that both times I coached here this season. But I don't feel bad about it. It's just the way things are and I understand what other teams go through.

Despite the losing streak, Cade Cunningham remains optimistic about the team and Williams' leadership: "He's been great. I like his approach and the way he communicates. He's got good timing with his words. We have our system, we just need to execute it better. It's up to us players to find our way in that system and expand our potential."

The Pistons still have a chance to turn things around in the new year. With talent like Cunningham and Williams' coaching experience, they have the potential to surprise and rise up the standings.
